Most weeks someone asks us why we still build on WordPress when there are shiny drag-and-drop builders promising a finished site by lunchtime. It is a fair question, so here is the honest answer.
We have built sites on most of the popular platforms over the years. We keep coming back to WordPress, and it is not out of habit. It is because of what it gives the people who actually own the site.
You own it. All of it.
This is the big one. When you build on a closed platform like Wix or Squarespace, you are renting space inside someone else’s product. Your content, your design, your customer data, all of it lives by their rules. If they change pricing, drop a feature, or decide your business is not a fit, you have very little say.
WordPress is open source, which means the software is yours. Your site can move hosts, change designers, or outgrow us entirely, and nothing holds it hostage. We think that matters a great deal.

It bends to your business, not the other way around
A builder gives you a fixed set of boxes to fill in. That is fine until you need something slightly outside the lines, and then you are stuck. WordPress goes the other way. Need a booking system, a members area, multi-language content, a proper online store, a custom quote calculator? It can all be built, and it can talk to the other tools you already use.
We recently put together a seven-site medical group on a single WordPress setup, running in four languages, all managed from one place. You simply cannot do that on a template builder.
It grows with you
Plenty of our clients started with a simple five-page site and have since added online bookings, e-commerce, automated invoicing, and more. None of that needed a rebuild from scratch. The site they started with is the same site they have now, just expanded. That continuity saves real money over the years.
It runs a huge chunk of the internet for a reason
Around 43 percent of all websites run on WordPress. That scale means a massive community, constant security updates, and an answer to almost any problem you can think of. You are never building on something niche that might quietly disappear.
The honest catch
WordPress is not magic, and we will not pretend it is. Because it is so flexible, it does need looking after. Updates, backups, security, the occasional plugin that misbehaves. A builder hides all of that from you, which is part of its appeal for some people.
That upkeep is exactly the part we take off your plate. You get the power and ownership of WordPress without having to become a part-time sysadmin to keep it healthy. For most businesses that is the best of both worlds, and it is the reason we built our studio around it.
The bottom line
So that is why we choose WordPress. Not because it is trendy, but because years from now you will still own your site, it will still do what your business needs, and it will still be yours to take anywhere.
